Today I was asked by a young man, “What is it like for you as a hospice nurse to take care of people who are dying?”

How insightful!  How refreshing, most folks really don’t even like asking me the question of “How was your day?”  HA!

So I told him about what I call situational grief, how I am influenced by the beauty and the tragedy of end-of-life care.  How the people I meet are heroes and how intimate the work is from my point of view.  How thankful I am when people, like him, trust my advice and take the promptings to seize the moments.

His insight to asking the question of how hospice nurses see our work was very refreshing…he has made my day!
